(1) Before the end of each workday, the printing machine operator shall clean the gripper edges (roller bearings) of the plate cylinder and blanket cylinder.
(2) When replacing the blanket: clean the surface of the blanket cylinder with pure alcohol, gasoline, or press wash, wipe it dry with a cloth, and finally apply RESOST7-3 anti-rust oil to the surfaces of the plate cylinder and blanket cylinder using a cotton cloth or brush—apply twice consecutively with a 5-minute interval for drying.
(3) For the cushion paper used for the plate cylinder and blanket cylinder: soak it in machine oil, air-dry it before use for better performance; alternatively, use a film sheet of appropriate thickness cut to size.
Specific methods:
① Unify side gauges: Design a 3mm H-line on the plate, with the H-line near the paper edge having a thickness of 0.5mm, ensuring it is precisely registered with the paper edge during printing.
② Unify front gauges: For the same product, keep front gauges consistent, and operators must print strictly according to the same dimensions.
Handling of plate scratches caused by hard objects:
During large-batch printing, clean the plate and blanket every 3,000 impressions or when loading paper. Hard particles occasionally get trapped in the cleaning cloth, causing linear scratched marks on the plate if unnoticed. Re-exposing the plate is time-consuming and wasteful; plate repairing paste is ineffective as the marks are not on the applied photosensitive emulsion.
Treatment: Dip a clean cloth in plate cleaning paste and a small amount of dampening powder, then gently wipe the scratched marks. When starting the machine, first apply water to the plate and idle several times before lowering the ink roller—the marks will disappear.
